This is a story about a little lady bug, who was in fact a money box. This pink with black spots little bug was a beautiful bug. Her home was on the back end of the change-table of her very proud owner since she was born. Lady bug was not only a lovely gift but was a favourite at nappy changing time.
Each week, a gold coin or two would go into the lady buy money box. Other coins went into various other money boxes, but always at least one or two would be especially for the lady bug.
You see, the lady bug money box was set aside for Sibongile. At the end of a year, the money in the lady bug was counted out and there was exactly $100 AUD worth of coins saved there. This converts to an amount of almost 680 South African RAND - a substantial amount in the South African currency. And all from the lady bug money box of a babe in arms.
As a mum, I look forward to the day when I can share with our little south african sweetheart the story of the lady bug money box.
Sadly, the lady bug money box did a high dive one day from the change-table (with a little help perhaps) and was unrepairable, however has been replaced with an alternative for this year.

About Sibongile Day and Night Care Centre (South Africa)
The Sibongile Day and Night Care Centre is on the outskirts of Cape Town in South Africa.
The centre was named in honour of a beautiful South African child, Sibongile, who's parting wish to her mother was to start a home to care for children with cerebral palsy and other health conditions.
Sibongile means Thankyou.
