About Sibongile Day and Night Care Centre (South Africa)

The Sibongile Day and Night Care Centre is on the outskirts of Cape Town in South Africa.

The centre was named in honour of a beautiful South African child, Sibongile, who's parting wish to her mother was to start a home to care for children with cerebral palsy and other health conditions.

Sibongile means Thankyou.

Welcome Home Ren

After 2 months away, we can finally welcome home our very own Aus/African Ren who has been visiting family and friends in both South Africa & the UK.

Having met briefly with Ren this morning, the stories are spilling out of her and I cannot wait to hear more of her time away, especially those visits to Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre, conversations with Nomasango, Marco, the Momma's, Children and other volunteer staff.

Welcome home Ren

Cocktail Party

Sibongile Supporters

Did you know that anyone can become a Sibongile Supporter.  There is no charge involved.  At our Taste of Africa Dinner, we sat approx 40 people.  At our Op Shop Winter Ball, we had aprox 80 people and we are hoping for over 200 at our Movie at the beach fundraiser in August.  So we know we have lots of community interest and support.

So scroll on down and look to the left hand side of your screen to join with the supporters that have already signed up.

Again, there is no fee...it is free.  We just value your interest, thoughts, prayers if that is your way and your participation, should you choose to, at any of our fundraising events. We also value your blog posts etc with questions, stories etc.

It is also very exciting that our friends at Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre, in South Africa can see what's happening over this side of the world on their behalf.

'Matching Jack' - Movie At the Beach.

An inspirational family drama about love, infidelity, hope and the unbreakable bond between parent and child.  (http://www.screendaily.com)

It was a balmy and beautiful night by the beach under the stars and fairy lights of the historic Avoca Beach Theatre for our 'Matching Jack' movie fundraiser .... and hardly a dry eye in the house...

Once again, we thank Sibongile Australia Fundraising Volunteer, Wendy for her energy, efforts and enthusiasm for this latest fundraiser, held at Avoca Beach on 19th August 2010.

Special thanks to everyone who came along and also to those who purchased tickets that could be given away to others.  We also wish to thank the proprietors of the Avoca Beach Theatre for their care, generosity and support leading up to and on the night of our wonderful event.

Approximately $1,700 in proceeds were raised for the Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre in South Africa.

Winter Op Shop Ball Wonderful!

Wow, what a crowd, what a buzz, what a night! These are some of the things I have heard about our very first Winter Op Shop Ball, held Saturday night, 19th June.

We anticipate, at this time, that we made an approximate profit of $1400 to go to the Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre.

So, a very big and sincere Thankyou to everyone who purchased tickets and/or made donations.

To our raffle and auction purchasers and bidders, we also thankyou so much for our generousity. And to those who donated all the goodies to raffle or auction, we are really grateful and we thankyou.

Please don't forget our major raffle! Tickets are still available and the winner will be drawn at our Movie at the Beach night on the 19th August.

OPSHOP BALL

Watch this space for photos and some comments about this fundraiser. A definite "do again"!

Amy & Wayne

What a great time we had meeting these inspiring people! Though the weather was cold the topic was warmhearted: all about Sibongile! We now have so much more to share about their needs and the joys. Hopefully we will be able to put together a presentation by the time of the ball that we can show to you. I just KNOW that once you are aware of more that is happening, you will be joining us in working hard to achieve all that the Australian family can.
