Fun Run/Walk/Cycle & Brunch

A magnificent day dawned today, the 27th March, with the perfect weather for our first fundraising event of the year.

Today it was delightful that 8 local families were represented by event participants and more by event supporters. Our walkers set off a little after 8am at at energetic pace; followed a short time after by our runner and then our cyclists.

The scenery was spectacular as our event wound it's way from our West Gosford starting point along the breath-taking Brisbane Waters and concluded in an idyllic setting at the Woy Woy Waterfront where the children (and at least one grown up) enjoyed paddling and swimming with the many varieties of ducks that were also enjoying the day in the park.

Along the route, our runners, walkers and cyclists were met by our station marshalls who supplied water and fresh, delicious oranges to keep them going. We thank these people for their enthusiasm, encouragement and assistance.

As our participants made it to our destination, they were greeted by the smiling ladies from a local club were had offered their support in a day of service. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts as we could not have managed without them. It was just superb to see people arrive and be greeted by such lovely hostesses to serve fresh fruit, raisin bread, followed up my our main brunch of hot egg, bacon & cheese wraps.

Although it was not a race, special Sibongile prizes were distributed for our first walker, runner & cyclist to arrive at our destination as well as our youngest event participant. Congratulations to everyone though.

Special thanks to all who were a part of our Sibgongile Fun Run/Walk/Cycle & Brunch. We hope you each enjoyed the experience, having shared something of yourselves for the children and staff of the Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre in South Africa.

We look forward to receiving the sponsorship money from our event participants on the 10th April at our Sibongile Collection Point (our starting point today) between 10am and 12 Noon.
